Biography

Dr. Nias is computational social science researcher currently developing a data science platform for culturally relevant social media projects implemented in undergraduate computing and interdisciplinary courses. Currently, she is a researcher in Spelman's CURE program where she is developing educational technologies that support student learning in big data and computational social sciences.

A May 2016 Bowie State University computer science doctoral program graduate, she  previously worked as a visiting lecturer in computer science at The University of Maryland, Eastern Shore while completing her doctoral studies. Her previous academic research experience focused on mobile human-computer interactions with an emphasis on cultural technological influences.

Dr. Nias has also completed research in the field of computer science education, child-computer interactions and mobile technology development for education. She is enthusiastic about expanding research in mobile technology in order to leverage indigenous knowledge systems. Currently, Dr. Nias is working as a researcher at Spelman College in the CURE program where she is developing educational technologies that support student learning in Big Data and Computational Social Sciences.
